The artist Michael Williams resides in Keyser, West Virginia. He
has always believed "True beauty is all around us in
nature." This reflects in his unique sculptures using materials
carved out by timeless exposure to the elements. The wood and
stone used in his sculptures are handpicked from the riverbeds and forests of
the West Virginia
Mountains.
Michael takes frequent walks in the woods to find the perfect piece of wood
that reflects the wonder of nature. The wood is taken to his
studio to dry, after which it is cut and scraped to the hard
core. It is then cleaned and a preservative is applied, prior to
the final finish. When the piece is completed, to his satisfaction,
it is either mounted to a stone base using steel pins or brass rods, or will
be left free standing. Some of the tone bases have fossil imprints
adding to the interest of the piece. Most of the free standing
pieces are of a surrealist nature and will be accompanied by a framed
description of his concept. His pieces are currently being shown
in New Jersey, Maryland
and West Virginia.

"In the
Belly of the Beast" The world today is in constant
threat of nuclear destruction by unstable world leaders, terrorist attacks in
the name of religion, pollution by its own inhabitants, and some theorize,
global warming. Hence the concept of "In the Belly of the Beast."
